This policy explains how Rung handles consumer health data, as Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut law define it. It supplements our Privacy Policy, which describes all the information we collect.
This policy applies only to "consumer health data" as those laws define it, and only to residents of Washington, Nevada, and Connecticut acting in an individual or household capacity. Terms that are not defined here have the meanings given in our Privacy Policy.
1. Consumer Health Data We Collect
- Body information: date of birth, gender, height, weight entries, goal weight, target pace of change, and the calorie and macro targets we calculate from them.
- Nutrition information: foods and meals you log, saved meals and foods, foods you create, and their calories and macros.
- Workout information: workouts you log or generate, sets, reps, and weights, training preferences, and anything you type in the "special considerations" field, such as injuries.
- Content you submit for analysis: meal and nutrition-label photos, voice recordings, and meal descriptions, which we process but do not keep on our servers.
- AI-generated content: weekly check-ins and the weekly summary they are based on.
We do not collect precise location, biometric data, or data from Apple Health, and we do not use geofencing around health care facilities or anywhere else.
2. Why We Collect It and How We Use It
We collect and use consumer health data only to provide the features you ask for:
- logging and charting your weight, food, and workouts;
- calculating your calorie and macro targets;
- generating weekly check-ins and workout suggestions;
- recognizing meals, labels, and voice entries; and
- keeping these features working, including fixing errors and limiting abuse.
We ask for your consent, through a separate checkbox when you set up your account, before we save your consumer health data.
We do not use consumer health data for advertising, and we do not sell it. We would not sell it without first getting your separate, signed authorization, as the law requires.
3. Where It Comes From
You. We collect consumer health data only when you enter it in the app or submit it for analysis. We also create consumer health data from what you enter: we calculate figures such as calorie and macro targets, and our AI features produce estimates such as nutrition values from meal photos, labels, descriptions, and voice entries, and weekly check-ins.
4. Who We Share It With
We do not share consumer health data with third parties for their own purposes. We disclose it only to these service providers (processors), which act on our behalf under contract:
| Provider | What it receives | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | All consumer health data listed above | Stores your data and runs our servers |
| Anthropic | Weekly summaries (including weight figures and calorie averages), meal and label photos, meal descriptions, workout settings, and special considerations | AI features |
| OpenAI | Voice recordings, and meal descriptions if we route meal analysis to it | Voice transcription and meal analysis |
| Sentry | Food search terms and in-app actions that are captured when an error occurs | Crash and performance diagnostics |
| PostHog | Pseudonymous onboarding step numbers and whether signup is started or setup is completed; no answers, measurements, account ID, or email | Measure onboarding completion and improve setup |
We do not have affiliates that receive consumer health data. We may also disclose information if required by law, as described in our Privacy Policy.
5. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- confirm whether we collect, share, or sell your consumer health data;
- access it, including a list of the providers we have shared it with and how to contact them;
- delete it, including by deleting your account in the app (Profile > Delete Account); and
- withdraw your consent to our collecting and sharing it. Because Rung cannot work without this data, withdrawing consent means deleting your account.
When you delete your account, your data is deleted from our database immediately. Copies in backups are overwritten within 7 days, diagnostic data in Sentry is deleted within 30 days, and AI providers delete data on the schedules described in our Privacy Policy.
How to use your rights. Email privacy@rungfit.com, or use Profile > Delete Account for deletion. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 30 days, as our Privacy Policy states, and never later than 45 days. If we need more time, we will tell you within that period, and we will respond within 45 more days.
Appeals. If we decline your request, you can appeal by emailing privacy@rungfit.com with "APPEAL" in the subject line within a reasonable time after our decision. Please include a copy of our decision or describe the request it relates to. We will respond within 45 days, explain our decision, and tell you how to contact your state attorney general if you disagree:
- Washington: Washington State Office of the Attorney General, atg.wa.gov
- Nevada: Nevada Office of the Attorney General, ag.nv.gov
- Connecticut: Connecticut Office of the Attorney General, portal.ct.gov/ag
6. Changes
If we want to collect new categories of consumer health data, or use or share it for a purpose not described here, we will update this policy and ask for your consent first.
